I Turned 50

I turned 50, 24 hours ago.

Phew! Time sure flies. I was so occupied that I didn't get the chance to remind myself to disconnect all birthday reminders from all social media accounts I own! My usual practice of switching off all connections to the world, and yes including my phone, was all forgotten.

Well, basically I didn't manage to do all those because I had to remain online from the day before to the day after my 50th birthday, due to attending meetings and such. In turn, my niece took it as an improvement on my side, as if indicating that I have moved on, perhaps. Hmm...

Quite a list I had, since the last 6 months, to achieve before I turned 50. Out of 10, I could only managed to achieve a few, or should I say "almost achieved" a few. One, published 3 books under my enterprise - I published 4. Two, reduced weight to 55kg - I managed to reduce 5 kg only, from 69kg. Three, able to jog 2km non-stop - I managed to walk or brisk walk non-stop in intense heat during fasting month for more than 2km.

Among I couldn't achieved, at least not yet, include starting the family pickle business, resume hobby in painting, and resume learning guitar. Pickle, I totally forgot about it during the recent fasting month because I was busy editing books for this year's launch. Painting, I realised that my designing skill has deteriorated, even with using apps for simple poster design. Guitar, it is still staring back at me every time I notice it leaning against my book shelf. Oh well...

One thing I realise, though, is that I have gained more strength and resilience in long drive. I could drive fast in heavy rain, now. I am brave to drive an old Peugeot around the country despite the faults in gearbox and non-functioning air conditioning system. I even scare my 20-year-old daughter with my driving. Interesting.

Against all odds, I still "spread myself too thin". I realised that I have been appointed as executive members for 3 associations, and 1 co-chairing role for an upcoming conference special session. If that ain't enough, I was beckoned and dragged into the world of EoS, Exes of SAS Band, and boy how much my time was occupied in the past weeks with the EoS team! Nevertheless, it is good to know I have friends in my hometown whom I can meet up any time from now onwards.

I look forward to the next 10 years as I venture into my 50s of life.  Hope it brings tremendous positive vibes in my life.

Cheers to the world of the 50s!
